I’m called a prophet of the One Most High
As an adult I’m seen as a very strange guy.
I’m filled with the Spirit to prepare the Lord’s way,
I baptize with water: “Repent!” I say.
I’m a few months older than Jesus, my cousin;
I had disciples of my own, at least a dozen.
Who am I?

P.S. Don't forget to check the answer to yesterday's riddle!
John the Baptist!
Congratulations to everyone who figured it out!
Elizabeth and Mary were cousins (of some kind) so John the Baptist and Jesus were also cousins - possibly 2nd cousins. (Luke 1:5-25, 39-45, 57-80). John’s father said about him, “You my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High, you will go before the Lord to prepare his way, To give his people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.”
John the Baptist began his ministry before Jesus did. He is believed to be the “voice crying out in the wilderness” that Isaiah mentions, telling people to repent and to prepare the way of the Lord. We have to consider, especially in this time of Advent, what each of us must do to repent. How can we turn back to the Lord? How can we make the way to the Lord straight?
