I’ve never had a child; I thought I was too old,
But God had other plans, my husband was told.
Now at 6 months, God makes it clear
As my cousin approaches, the Lord is near.
With words of a prayer, I cry out with joy
And within my womb, leaps my baby boy.
Who am I?

Elizabeth
Nice!
Elizabeth!
We know Elizabeth was an older woman married to Zechariah, a priest of the Temple. She had never been able to have children, until an angel told Zechariah that she would have a son who would prepare people for the coming of the Lord. Elizabeth was a cousin of Mary. When Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant, Mary came to visit her, and at the sound of Mary’s greeting, the child in Elizabeth’s womb leaped for joy. You can read about this in Luke’s Gospel: Luke 1:39-45
